To this day I am convinced I was charged for the KC return and Ron only refused to remove it because it would reduce their fee.
We went to this H&R Block last year to avoid having to deal with a multiple state and local tax return caused by moving from Missouri to Minnesota. I figured who better than H&R block (a Kansas City based company) than to know how to handle my return, right?
Wrong Again. Apparently H&R Block in their infinite wisdom did away with their live help for other states.
When I called H&R Block customer service to complain I was assured that I would receive a call back to discuss the situation, but nobody ever called back.
Wrong.
Long story short was that I paid over $330 for my returns and I could have easily saved $200 and had less hassle by doing it myself on Turbo Tax.
I would suggest avoiding this place!!
Ron at this office didn't seem to have any idea how to handle the Missouri or Kansas return. Okay so he is used to the Minnesota return, surely he has resources at his disposal to assist with filling these out properly.
The last straw was when he refused my request to remove my Kansas City local return because I didn't think it was filled out correctly given my partial year residency. H&R Block didn't have their setup correct for this calculation and he wouldn't even entertain doing the return any other way even after I showed him the proper forms.
Be smart. Go somewhere else or just buy Turbo Tax and do it yourself. I did my 2009 return in Turbo Tax and was extremely impressed with the quality of the software.
What was most frustrating, however, was how Ron handled out situation. He didn't take adequate notes and at least a couple of times I had to make extra trips and take time off from work because of mistakes he made that he had to correct.
Afterwards I called the KC revenue department and confirmed my suspicions that it was done incorrectly. When I showed up wanting a refund for the KC return, Ron wouldnt even talk to me, insisting he was too busy, but yet he had time to leave the office as soon as I showed up. They insisted that I didnt even pay for the KC return, but refused to provide me a receipt proving I wasnt charged.
